Olimex quad 7 segment LED assembly and testing notes

Now I have soldered 2 of the 4 HC595 based 7-segment LED circuits, with the following serial data connections.

LED1 - serial input from Olimex, serial output to HC595 serial in.

LED2 - serial input from LED1 serial out.

As expected, LED2 lags LED1 by 1 digit.

So far so good.  Time to take a break.
